An Orbituary: Captain America 1941-2007

And there you have it, the protector of America against Nazis, Japanese and other threats to wartime America and the Allies, is dead. America’s symbol in the comic world, was fataly wounded as a bullet pierced his windpipe while he was walking up the stone steps of a courthouse.

Captain America was created by Marvel Entertainment Inc. in 1941 to incarnate patriotic feeling during World War II. An estimated 210 million copies of “Captain America” comic books, have been sold in a total of 75 countries.
Resurrections are not unknown in the world of comics, and some Republicans are suggesting that Mr. Bush step into the role ……….. 🙂

A Long Way Gone, by Ishmael Beah

My new friends have begun to suspect I haven’t told them the full story of my life.
“Why did you leave Sierra Leone?”
“Because there is a war.”
“You mean, you saw people running around with guns and shooting each other?”
“Yes, all the time.”
“Cool.”I smile a little.
“You should tell us about it sometime.”
“Yes, sometime.”
